The world's lightest solid: 95% air in a nanometric silica lattice. Lambda 0.015 W/mK — half that of polyurethane. The definitive solution for thermal bridges and thickness constraints in historic building restoration.
The anti-mould insulator for historic centres. pH 10.5 alkaline: mould cannot proliferate. mu 3-6: breathes like air. The only solution for internal insulation without interstitial condensation (Green Homes Directive). Non-combustible Class A1.
The eternal insulator. Recycled glass + expanded carbon = hermetic glass cells (mu = infinite). Zero water, zero fire (A1), zero creep (1600 kPa). Installed in hot bitumen. The only structural insulator below foundation slabs and driveable roofs.
Circular bio-insulation: recycled newspapers blown under pressure into cavities. Lambda 0.038 W/mK + very high thermal mass. Summer phase shift > 12 hours. Boron salts: self-extinguishing, anti-mould, anti-rodent. Embodied carbon nearly zero.
The democratic external insulation. 98% air in sintered closed cells. Lambda 0.036 W/mK, unbeatable cost. Core of ETICS systems. Graphite-grey version reduces thickness by 15%. Warning: dissolves in solvents, crumbles under UV without mesh-reinforced render.
Natural insulation from cork oak bark. The steam expansion process bonds granules using only suberin (the cork's own resin), with no chemical adhesives. Carbon-negative, rot-proof, excellent summer thermal lag.
Light, flexible mineral insulation from recycled glass. Ideal for drywall systems, it acts as an acoustic spring (Massa-Molla-Massa), achieving sound insulation values higher than solid brick walls.
Expanded polystyrene enriched with graphite. Graphite particles act as micro-mirrors against infrared radiation, achieving lambda 0.030 W/mK vs 0.036 of white EPS. The thin insulation par excellence for ETICS facades.
Hemp and lime biocomposite (Hempcrete). Carbon-negative building material (-280 kgCO2/m3), non-structural, breathable and humidity-buffering. The most regenerative insulating infill material available.
Mineral insulation from volcanic rocks. Incombustible (Class A1), breathable (mu=1), excellent acoustics. The only thermal insulation material that also protects against fire propagation.
Natural insulation from sheep shearing. Keratin actively captures formaldehyde and VOCs from indoor air. Humidity management up to 33% weight, sorption heat effect, service life > 50 years without performance loss.
Climate-positive construction. Straw = -1.5 kg CO2 per kg. Lambda 0.05-0.08 W/mK with summer phase shift > 14 hours. Zero vapour barrier. Clay plaster inside, NHL lime outside. Compressive strength up to 120 kg/m3.
Bio-insulation from sawmill waste. Unique double ability: excellent winter thermal resistance and unmatched summer thermal lag (>14h for 20cm), thanks to its very high specific heat of 2100 J/kgK.
Thermally insulating extruded polystyrene with 100% closed-cell structure. Totally waterproof (water absorption < 0.7%), compressive resistance up to 700 kPa, ideal for under-slabs, inverted roofs and basement perimeters.
