Workers' health and safety at work (implementation of EEC directives)

Legislative Decree 626 of 19 September 1994 brought the European occupational-safety framework into Italy (framework Directive 89/391/EEC and its daughters): risk assessment, prevention and protection service, company doctor, worker training and information. Published in Official Gazette No. 265 of 12 November 1994 (S.O. 141), in force from 27 November 1994, it was repealed by Legislative Decree 81/2008, which reorganized the field into the consolidated act. "La 626" remains in common parlance as shorthand for the 1994–2008 season of workplace safety.

All private and public sectors, construction sites included, during its 1994–2008 validity.

• Introduced risk assessment, the prevention service and the company doctor.
• Implementation of framework Directive 89/391/EEC and its daughter directives.
• Repealed by Legislative Decree 81/2008 (consolidated act), in force since 15 May 2008.
