Rules for containing energy consumption for thermal uses in buildings

Law 373 of 30 March 1976 is Italy's first energy-saving law for buildings, born of the oil crisis: it introduced limits on heating-plant power, minimum building insulation (the volumetric heat-loss coefficient) and the technical report to be filed with the municipality. Published in Official Gazette No. 148 of 7 June 1976 (in force from 22 June 1976), it was repealed by Law 10/1991 with effect from 15 July 1991. For buildings erected between the late 1970s and 1991 it is the rule that explains "how much insulation there was" at design time.
